The Opportunity

Andrew Rural Academy is seeking a High School Science Teacher to join our pioneering charter school. This role focuses exclusively on teaching Grades 10–12, with an emphasis on delivering a STEM-based curriculum that connects classroom learning to real-world applications.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be:

Professionally Qualified

  • Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (or equivalent) and is eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of science curriculum across junior and senior high levels.
  • Has experience integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) into classroom practice.

Instructional Innovator

  • Skilled at creating engaging, hands-on lessons that connect science concepts to real-world applications.
  • Comfortable using technology such as 3D printers, lab equipment, and digital tools to enhance learning.
  • Adapts teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs, including those with special learning requirements.

Community-Minded

  • Understands and appreciates the realities of rural life in Alberta.
  • Builds strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues to foster a supportive school culture.
  • Sees value in connecting classroom learning to local industries, agriculture, and rural careers.

Personal Qualities

  • Curious, innovative, and willing to challenge the status quo in pursuit of better learning outcomes.
  • Flexible and adaptive when faced with new information or unexpected circumstances.
  • Open to feedback, coaching, and collaboration within a team-oriented environment.
