Secretary-Treasurer (Controller) Permanent Part-Time Position

The Opportunity

The Andrew Rural Academy Charter School is immediately seeking a skilled finance and accounting individual to meet our school’s financial management obligations as prescribed under The Education Act.

This role is currently permanent part-time at 16 hours per week initially. Potential exists to increase the defined hours as requirements for the school evolve and become solidified. The Secretary-Treasurer (Controller) combines fiduciary planning and oversight with quality administrative reconciliation and reporting in support of the Board and the Superintendent.

Typical Duties

· Develop the schools chart of accounts for all aspects of financial management and oversight.

· Develop relevant policies, procedures and processes related to financial oversight.

· Train school staff in the financial planning and reporting aspects of their respective roles.

· Co-lead the budget and finance planning actions of the Board and the Superintendent.

· Produce, update and distribute all monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports as mandated by school policy and The Education Act.

· Monthly review, processing and reconciliation of Accounts Receivables/Accounts Payable and Payroll.

· Prepare and distribute Board agendas and minutes as required.

· Record and process minutes and records of key events/activities.

· Produce reports, analytics and presentations as required.

Qualifications/Education

· Certificate or Diploma in accounting;

· 3-5 years’ relevant experience

· Intermediate to advanced level technical/computer skills with proven expertise in Microsoft Suite of products- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel

· Strong proficiency/experience with typical accounting software (i.e. Quickbooks)

· Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract with access to a reliable vehicle

· Ability to provide a clean Criminal Records Check

Compensation

The position offers a competitive wage of $35.00 to $40.00 per hour depending on experience.
